During recent meetings we have been looking at whales and the important role these magnificent creatures play in their marine environment.
We talked about the senseless killing of these beautiful creatures and about ways we could voice our protest against this. Some of the children decided to create kids pix pictures voicing their opinions which are featured below.
The children created pics expressing their views

This week Clifton Hills Primary School Animal Club received an awesome letter and certificate from the Save The Bilby Fund that thanked all of the school for participating in National Bilby Day and generously supporting the fundraising activities held by our Animal Club.
One of our Animal Club members also won a Steve Parish Library Bag full of many wonderful animal related books for her excellent effort and participation in the National Bilby Day crossword competition.

Protecting endangered species
Over the past few months, we have been active and our students have produced several displays in the public library alerting people to many endangered species.
We also helped develop a special area for birds, lizards and other wildlife along the foreshore at Brighton.
We involved all of the neighbouring Primary Schools also and it took an entire day to plant out. However the kids learnt a lot and enjoyed the experience.

Close encounters with wildlife!
On Monday the 20th of October, Grovelands Animal club had some people from Kanyana Wildlife Rehab Centre come and visit. They brought along some wildlife animals for us to view and touch.
We were all excited at stroking Cougar the echidna and Princess Dusty the brush-tail possum. The other animals were a blue-tongue lizard, a red-tail cockatoo, a tawny frogmouth, and a bilby. It was exciting to see the Bilby because we had just finished raising money for the Bilby fund, and we know how rare these creatures are.

Christmas Card Artwork supporting free range chickens and pigs!
At our last two meetings, our Animal Club met to work on creating our compassionate Christmas cards again. Our aim was to draw animals that need our help like battery hen chickens and caged pigs.
We have been working on this project for the past four Animal Club lunch time meetings and the in the last meeting, we finished them off.
We made some lovely pictures and are looking forward to making them into cards. We will donate some of these cards to 'animal help' organisations so they can raise some money. Some of these will also go to our parents as we don't fund raise in our school unless it is done by our P and C.
