Donvale Primary School - 25th June 2007 Print E-mail

At first, you could hardly see Jimmy through all the students
lining up to greet him!

Donvale Primary School’s Animal Club, Heads and Tails spent almost all of Term 2 raising money for Diamond Creek Donkey Shelter. Club members did this by collecting fabulous prizes from people at Donvale Primary and then selling hundreds of raffle tickets to their friends, family and other members of the school community. Some Club members even donated their own pocket money. $615 was raised!

The highlight of the Heads and Tails fundraising efforts was when Jimmy the donkey visited the Donvale Primary School assembly to collect the raffle money. The local newspaper even wrote an article about Jimmy’s visit!

Donvale Primary School Principal, Mr Briggs, really loved Jimmy!

The Diamond Creek Donkey Shelter will use the money raised to buy food and medicine for some recently rescued donkeys. These donkeys have been very ill, so the Club’s donation came at a very good time!

On Friday 22nd June Clifton Hills Primary School Animal Club held their second movie afternoon, this time to collect food and supplies for the Darling Range Wildlife Shelter.

To begin the afternoon, the Animal Club members had juice boxes, Tiny Teddies and mandarins for afternoon tea. Afterwards they went to the library and watched the new Charlotte's Web movie.

After the movie, they watched the special features that showed how the animals in the movie were cared for and trained. They then played the alphabet animal game before being picked up to go home.

The afternoon was a very successful way of collecting lots of items for the Darling Range Wildlife Shelter. It was also lots of fun for all the Club members!

Mount Lawley Primary School - 21st June 2007 Print E-mail

On Thursday the 21st of June Mrs Pidco’s class held a CakeStall to raise money for the Kanyana Wildlife Park. The reason they did this is because the Wildlife Park did not have enough money to care for the animals and to look after them.

They raised $203·50. They also made pouches for the baby marsupials.

Yuluma Primary School – 21st June 2007 Print E-mail

Yuluma Primary Animal Club have recently been working on some animal related art. In the photograph below, Lauren is showing her reclining clay horse, Madeleine is showing her clay person nursing a puppy and Morgan is standing behind her wire horse. The students loved creating their animals from either clay or wire and Yuluma Primary has lots of extra ‘animals’ at school now!
